The Impact of Alexandre Gama in the Communications and Advertising Industry

The Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of Neogama, Alexandre Gama, was born on 1st June 1958 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With a degree in Advertising and Communications from Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation, Alexandre Gama is currently renowned for his creativity majorly in the Communications and Advertising sector. Neogama is among the best twenty advertising agencies in the whole of Brazil and won a Golden Lion at the Cannes in 2015.

Career Background

In 1982, Alexandre Gama began his advertising career as a creative and copywriter at Standard Ogilvy and Mather. He moved to DM9 in 1990, where he worked for four years as a Copywriter and a Creative Director. He worked as a shareholder and as the Creative Executive Director at Almap BBDO. In 1996, Alexandre was the CEO, CCO and Member of the Global Board at Young and Rubicam. He left Young & Rubicam and started Neogama in 1999. He became a member of the Brazilian Association of Advertising Agencies-ABAP in 2012 where he supported and promoted the best practices of the Brazilian communications sector. Alexandra is not only an icon in Brazil but also abroad, and in 2004 and 2013 he acted as the foreman for the International Film Jury of D&AD as well as its Jury member in 2008.

Awards that Alexandre has Received

While working at DM9, Alexandre was the most awarded copywriter of his age bracket in Brazil. He was nominated one of the seven most significant experts in the history of Brazilian publicity by 250 professionals of the national publicity market in 2006. The Same year, the Propaganda Professionals Association elected him the “Agency Director of the Year.” He won the Cabore Award in 2007 where he was voted the “Entrepreneur of the Year in the Communications Industry.” Various magazines have recognized his works, and he is a success story to be emulated.

Other Accomplishments

Alexandre stands as the first Brazilian to lead as the Global CCO of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, a British-based agency network. Also, he is the only Brazilian member of the Publicis Groupe Global Creative Board that is made up of 6 creative leaders worldwide. In 2008, Gama stood out as the first Latin American at the Cannes Festival in France to present a Master Class. By 2016, he had won twenty-three Lions from Cannes Festival and has been a Jury Member in Film and Press of the festival three times.

Works in Other Industries

Other than his works in the communications and advertising industry, Alexandre takes part in the music industry. He founded and launched VIOLAB in 2014 to promote the best players of the acoustic guitar in Brazil as well as musicians. He is also an investor in Briggs Automotive Company.
