“I think my gun probably saved my life,” Suarez said.


Police are looking for four men who allegedly posed as police officers in an attempt to rob a jewelry store.

It happened at Marcelo’s Jewelry store on West Columbus Drive around 8 a.m. Police said an employee exchanged gunfire with the men, who came inside dressed in police gear.

“I heard the ‘Pow! Pow! Pow!,’ just like that,” said nearby business owner Iris Rodriguez. “I didn’t think anything of it. I thought it was a trash can or something next door. And a cop came in and told me there was a shooting next door at the jewelry store.”

The men had black shirts and hats with the word “police” on them, investigators said
