Ironic, satirical or just plain depraved? Accused Aurora killer James Holmes has inspired an online legion of ‘fans’ who upload original artworks and photos of themselves sporting Holmes-inspired plaid shirts flannel and sipping Slurpees.

It doesn’t seem out of the ordinary, but it’s in tribute to James Holmes, the suspect in the biggest mass shooting in U.S. history.

“Holmies” are a growing fan community with their own inside jokes and displays of devotion to the 24-year-old accused of killing 12 people at an Aurora, Colo. showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

The meme-gathering website Buzzfeed uncovered a trove of Holmie art, much of it posted to the blogging site Tumblr.
