Chinese patrol ships sent to disputed islands, Japanese forces warned to be ready

Just as China said they would take action to defend their sovereign territory when they heard of the Japanese government’s announcement about purchasing the Senkaku Islands, two navy ships were dispatched by Beijing to the disputed territory on Tuesday morning. The Chinese government made it abundantly clear that it viewed Japan’s attempts to nationalize the uninhabited islets as illegal, and doing so would have adverse effects on the two nations’ diplomatic relations. The two military ships are of a type that is often lightly armed and are said to have reached the waters off the islands by Tuesday afternoon.
